Rules

Outside alcohol is PROHIBITED from being brought into the building! The Arctic Breakaway has a liquor license and having players bring outside alcohol into the building violates those terms so this is a serious issue! ANY teams caught violating

this policy will automatically forfeit the game for the night of the first violation. The second offense will result in permanent removal of the player who violated the rule for the remainder of the season with no refund

This is a serious issue and needs to be treated as such!

Game Rules:

​

  1. Games will be (3) 15:00 minute run time periods. Clock will stop with 2 minutes left in a game if the score is within 2 goals.

  2. After warm ups and between periods, the clock will be set to 15:30 and run. The puck will drop at 15:00, if a team is not ready to line up, the clock will continue to run.

    1. Warmup clock will start either as soon as the zam doors are shut or right at the start of designated ice time.

  3. Standard Red line icing.

  4. Teams must have 5 skaters and a goalie (or 6 skaters) to start a game. These MUST be USA Hockey registered skaters who are also registered to play in this league. If team does not have full team by 10 min mark of first period then that team forfeits and refs will leave.

  5. If a game goes into shootout, each team will receive one point. If a team wins the shootout the winning team will receive a second point.

  6. In the event a playoff game ends in a tie, the teams will play until someone scores to break the tie.

  7. In the event of a tie in points in the standings, the first tie breaker will be head to head vs. If that is also tied, the next tiebreaker will be Penalty min. total If that is tied then it is a coin flip between the managers and myself.

  8. The red-line will be the deciding line for icings this season.  Teams must get the puck over the RED (Center) line before they can dump it in.

  9. If your team has a penalty on the scoreboard you must change on fly. If both teams have penalty then both must change on fly. You can only change on a whistle if they power play team changes first. If either team scores or is assessed a new penalty, BOTH teams can change.  

  10. A maximum of 3 penalties are allowed for a player during a game. Players issued 3 minor penalties in a game will be given a game misconduct for current game. No additional games will be added.

    1. If a player gets 1 major penalty they will be gone for the game as well. No additional games will be added, unless seen fit by league director.

  11. Referees are in charge of all on-ice infractions and penalties.  No ruling made by an official can be overturned while the game is in play.  Teams may “PROTEST” a eligibility ruling following the game but must follow all official calls while game is in play.  Referee calls will not be overruled.

  12. Minor Penalties will result in 2:00 minute shorthanded time.

  13. Failure to tell the League Director and also the other team's manager by 5pm of the gameday that your team will not be in attendance 2 times during a season will result in removal of the league with NO REFUND.

  14. Players (men or women) must be 18 years or older to play in the ACAHL.

    1. Under 18 Years old must have written consent from parents.

  15. Each player must provide a USA Hockey registration number and barcode to the league to participate.

  16. Players must check-in to the check-in table for each game before they enter the locker room to show that they are in attendance.  Players must be signed in and play in 6 regular season games to be eligible for the playoffs.  CHECK-IN!.

  17. TIMEOUTS – Each team is granted 1 timeout while in Championship game.  No timeouts in regular season play.

  18. Players are NOT allowed on the ice until the zamboni is off and the driver has closed the doors. If players from a team are on the ice before this, the team will receive a bench minor and start the game with someone in the penalty box.

    1. Goalies can set up their nets once zamboni gets off the ice before the door is shut.

    2. **Any player owing a balance to another arena that we are notified about, will NOT be eligible to play at the Arctic Coliseum until their current balances with those arenas are resolved. This rule has been put in place to deter people jumping from rink to rink to avoid payments. All area rinks will now adopt this rule to their leagues.**

 

Roster rules:

​

  1. Any non-rostered players may not play for any Division team at any time.  Players that do play without being rostered with the league commissioner will be banned for that season and the team that does use that player will forfeit the game.  This rule applies for both regular season and playoffs.

  2. Goaltenders must play a minimum of 2 games to be eligible for playoffs.

  3. Teams can use any goalie from their ACAHL league or ACAHL league under them for the playoffs.

  4. Rosters will be frozen 6 games prior to playoffs

Player and Sub rule:

​

  1. A team may not ask for a substitute player if they have 10 rostered skaters (not including a goalie.) skating in that game. A team can substitute as many ACAHL players as they want within rule. Rostered in that league or leagues below them. No Subs from higher leagues.

  2. All substitutes MUST be rostered in the ACAHL and have their USA Hockey registration on file.

  3. Substitute players MUST be from their Division or lower. No upper level players will be eligible to substitute for teams.

  4. A player must tell the scorekeeper for their game that they are subbing so that the scorekeeper marks it down on the game sheet.

  5. A team may not sub players in if they have (10 for C 8 for D)  people physically checked in on the scoresheet. Locker rooms will be checked to make sure that anyone who may have forgotten to sign in is accounted for before the game start.

  6. If a team is using subs, and a player from their team shows up, the sub is to be replaced on the bench and may not finish the game. Substitute players are subbing at the risk they may not be able to finish the game.

  7. Goalies substitutes may be brought in from outside the league once all goalies from within the league have been contacted. –As long as you have a goalie… No Ringers…

  8. NO substitutions will be allowed for a playoff game! Only players on your team's roster will be allowed to play in a playoff game. Goalie subs in playoffs must be approved by the ACAHL Director.

 

Equipment rules:

​

  1. Full equipment is required for all games.  Players must wear a HECC approved hockey helmet.  FACEMASK protection is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all players.

  2. Mouthguards are recommended as well for all players

  3. Shoulder pads are REQUIRED.

Forfeits:

​

Your team will forfeit if the following occurs:

  1. You have less than 4 skaters + Goalie or 5 skaters present at the start of the game, following warm-ups. If you get the fifth skater and a goalie in the 5 minutes mark, your team will get a delay of game penalty and start off the game 4 on 5.

  2. You are playing with an illegal player.

  3. A player is continuing to play with an illegal/wrong numbered jerseys after warning tell scorekeeper who you are.

  4. A player who is suspended is playing before his suspension is over.

  5. If team No call/No show without telling league director twice then they will be removed from league without refund.

  6. No alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought in from outside of the arena. (breakways is fine) Teams that violate this rule will be forced out of the league with no refund!

Money:

​

  1. League fees will be charged to your team as a whole.

  2.      Team fees: full team fee is due by second game. Failure to pay in full by the second game will result in forfeit until full payment is in. 2 forfeits in a row will result in removal of the league.

  3. All teams must be paid up-to-date to be eligible to play.

 

Game Misconducts:

​

  1. Administrative suspensions may be issued by the ACAHL for players who are not paid up, do not have their USA Hockey turned in or a violation off the ice involving rink property or employees. It will be up to the league director as to the duration of this suspension.

  2. Game Misconducts will result in players being ejected from the current game that they are playing as well as suspended automatically for the following 1 games of league play.

    1. If you are subbing for a team and you get a game misconduct then you will have to sit out your team's next game.

  3. A game misconduct that is a fight related penalty such as Fighting, Removing your helmet, Removing your opponent's helmet or grabbing a face cage will result in a  minimum 5 GAME suspension for the first offense and suspension of play for the remainder of the season ( past game 10 in season, suspended half of next season. WITH NO REFUND for the second offense

    1. If the scoresheet reads “fighting” then the max penalty of 5 games will be assessed (more if league director sees fit)

  4. Tobacco use on the ice will not be tolerated, no chew or pouches are allowed at any time! if you are caught breaking this rule, you will receive a game misconduct.

General Info:

​

1. All players and teams must have matching jersey colors and have a clear number on the back that matches their number on the scoresheet.

2. Players must be wearing the same/similar color jersey as all other players on their team. Get as close as possible. With the colors.

3. Teams have 30 minutes to get out of the locker room after their game. Failure to do so will end up with the manager getting a Game misconduct each time.

 

THIS LEAGUE IS FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF THE PLAYERS.  ANY PLAYER DEEMED TO BE DISRUPTING THE LEAGUE DUE TO FOUL LANGUAGE, AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR, TAUNTING, VIOLENT PENALTIES, POOR OFF-ICE BEHAVIOR IN THE FACILITY OR RESTAURANT  WILL BE WARNED TO CORRECT THEIR BEHAVIOR. PLAYERS THAT CONTINUE TO DISPLAY POOR BEHAVIOR WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LEAGUE WITHOUT REFUND
